Well they have already patched it by now, of course you aren't going to get a cPanel page from Google. The nGinx proxy does exactly what you said in your comment, whether you use telnet or nginx, they both request the header host localhost.

First of all, this explanation is a little too complicated. To see how a site responds to a localhost request, no proxy config is necessary. Just do (obviously replace Google with site of interest):

telnet google.com 80

Then paste the following GET request:

GET / HTTP/1.1
Host: localhost
Connection: close
Accept-Encoding: gzip
Accept-Charset: UTF-8,ISO-8859-1
Cache-Control: no
Accept-Language: en

For me, however, that of course does not return any cPanel page, but rather Google's regular main page. I am skeptical that it ever did return cPanel for Google, as it would be very obvious (no proxying needed to find out).

"The only thing Google did was compile their Apache to serve up different headers. They do not have their own web server software."

Even if you weren't totally wrong about Apache, (Why would "you only receive the Cpanel start page on some computers and without the trailing slash." if you were proxying directly to Google?), how would you have any way of knowing how they modified Apache? There are plenty of useful modifications that are not externally visible.

It was one of those evenings where the sun had gone down, but it was still light out. The sky was full of red and pink clouds, and you just wish you could take a picture of it or save the moment for just a little bit longer. It was the end of fall and it was getting colder as winter was approaching quickly. Winter was cold. As was his heart. He had no where to go, no where to hide, and no one. It was hard being a runaway in winter. He would have to find somewhere else to live during it. The forest that surrounded him, and that was his home, was suffocating and made him realize how alone he was. He had nothing to do but wait for dark. He was lucky it was still fall. He had only a short amount of time before he would freeze to death if he slept.
He was desperate to find a home. He had been on the run for more than two years now and he knew that if he real truly wanted to live he would find some where to reside. That wasn’t the problem, and he knew it. It wasn’t the fact that he couldn’t find somewhere to live, it was the fact that he might not want to live. He had thought and thought about whether life was worth even worth living anymore. There was no one to miss him if he died and he would not feel guilty, where ever he went.
Before this life of starvation and pain, he had lived with his mother and father of course they never minded him and he barely ever eat living there. They would lock him in his room during the summer and slip a can of food under the door every night and that was it for meals. They would slap and punch him, hurt and abuse him.
And then, one day he had had enough. He just left. He just saved a couple days worth of food and left. This food only lasted a little while and then he panicked. He had had no supper for over a week, when he had broke down and eat out of the trash can.
Now the boy shook his head, trying to ride it of these memories. He packed up his belongings which consisted of a sleeping bag and a book. He had stolen the book of course. His parents had never bothered to do anything to make him smarter. He had only gone to school, himself, to get two meals a day. He usually stole other kids food in order to have breakfast the next morning.
As he started out of the woods, he heard a rustling behind him and spun around. He was worried it was the wolves that had arrived last night. They had smelled him cooking the rabbit he had caught and skinned. He had gotten up the tree just in time. The branch that he sat on was very low though and the wolves had almost bitten his leg when he had slipped once.
But when he turned around he didn’t see a pack of wolves, on the contrary he found a scarcely dress girl of about 13. The girl was alone, and she seemed to be of no harm so Miles slid out from behind the tree that he had been hiding behind. The girl gasped in fright at the sight of Miles. Miles quickly glanced down upon his appearance, check to see the threat that he pose to this person in the trees
When he looked down he saw nothing wrong. He guessed that the various rips in the knees of his jeans might be outlandish. He guessed that to this girl, which had almost no clothing on, at all he looked like he belongs to a family, which he didn’t of course. The girl was wearing short-shorts and a tank top and look freezing. Looking straight at her he asked “What is your name and why are you here?” she calmed al of a sudden as if realizing he was a long lost brother. “ I am Victoria, but you can call me Vicky. I have been on the run for 3 years and am the head of the ROA.” She stated with confidence. “ The ROA is the organization Runaways of American. And we would like the extend our friendship and a place in our safe haven.” He stared in shock. He was being followed? He had never been caught in 2 years and now he was being extend an invitation to be cared for. Then his mind started wondering back to what it was like to be in a family and he shuddered at the thought.
